Where can I get cheap broadband cable and what are the steps necessary to switch my AT&T service to Vonage?
Right now I have a dial-up internet connection and a phone bill through AT&T that exceeds my budget these days. I've been hearing alot about Vonage service so what I would like to know is the most inexpensive route to acquire a broadband cable connection (I do not subscribe to a cable company and I prefer not to)? Then, after I acquire the broadband what are the next steps towards the ultimate goal of reaping the Vonage benefits? (Can I just call and cancel my current phone service through AT&T?) Whom could I contact to successfully connect my internet via broadband cable?
Your options will depend on your exact home location. Broadband may be available through your phone company (AT&T), a cable company or other ISP's (Internet Service Providers). Vonage should be able to tell you who they are working with in your location.
NOTE: Vonage is not the only voice over IP provider.
Check the "yellow pages" under Internet and Phone and you may find wireless, cable and phone providers. Cable and phone companies generally give the best price to customers who already buy one of there services. Both are now selling "triple play bundles (which vary by provider and location" which gives you three services at about the cost of two today.
Good Luck and check web pricing for deals versus prices quoted on teh phone. ALSO ask about federal and state taxes and fees that are added to teh cost to determine the actual cost verses advertised cost
